will make for an interesting last 4 rounds.
not sure if I will be able to pick up a win vs Catfish next weekend after my cup final...thus that could put me 2 games behind with 3 games to go (assuming you win this weekend). My round 14 game is versus Sparker....that could be quite the crunch game...I would at least like to avoid placing 4th and having to play sparky away from home Evil or Very Mad

Yes, it definitely makes for some interesting final rounds. I also get to play Sparker on R12, and then Crusaders on R13. My last game looks like a WNWIM opportunity (btw, I think we have lost @Brentton to inactivity), while I hope Sparker and Rob are busy breaking each others heads (let me take this moment to generally remind everyone that intensity agreements are illegal Wink).

It definitely looks like I have a shot at defending my position and winning the right to a home semifinal. Winning such a semifinal against either Sparky or the Hercufleas is, well, a longer shot. We'll see. Smile

don't worry about sparker entering any illegal agreements...its pretty hard to get "boo" out of that guy....keeps himself pretty quiet...

I am happy for you to finish either 2nd or 3rd. my best chance of league success is ensuring sparky has to somehow play his league semi on full intensity against myself or sparker (no disrespect to your team donkeysaint). it may be better for me to face him in the semis with all being even, than in the final with him having a higher energy advantage....

Point 3: My marquee lock is training 1x(everything except kicking), 2xagi

You are the strong favourite for the cup title, I am sure you will win it. I cannot see any part of the game that isn't stacked in your favour, especially after you have managed to find a good penalty / turnover and discipline balance.

Well done Gunslingers for getting to the final, but an upset in their favour is a very, very long shot.

Regardless, good luck to you both!

Edit: Extremely close game, 13-16 at halftime. I was obviously wrong, this can go either way. Exciting!

Unfortunately...

Select the player which you would like to rename, and click continue. Note that only players who originated within your club or youth academy will be immediately eligible for renaming. You can also rename purchased players, as long as they have never played internationally (not including U20) once they have resided in your club for 3+ seasons.

I guess that prevents people from buying international players and renaming them Poopy McPoopFace, Personally, I was hoping for a name like Hercules Strong! (with the exclamation mark)

Congratulations to the Cup Title, Rob! You really smoked the Gunslingers in the last 13 minutes, scoring 21 points!

But I find it outrageous that you cannot change the name of a player like that. Evil or Very Mad  At least he should be able to revert to his original name? Good to know though, now I know I can never buy a former national with any sort of a ridiculous name. Razz

BTW, that three season rule seem at odds with the fact I could rename Pedro Spencer an hour after I bought him.
S26 R9 Sun, 6:05 Renamed from Nils Abbondanzieri to Pedro Spencer by donkeysaint.
S26 R9 Sun, 5:05 Transferred from Royal Expendable Chinchillas to Auckland Katipos R.F.C. for $123,420.
Has there been a change of the rule?

Nope. But the rule says that you can only change the name of your own (original or YA) players straight away. Purchased players can have their names changed after three seasons, and purchased players with NT caps can never have their names changed.

Clearly that was not my experience with Pedro.

Re: Season 34 General Discussion

I guess it must of have been quietly changed after Pedro's rename. Someone might have named an international player something that caused a bit of a stink and it might have just been handled quietly, player rename reversed, and the rules changed.

Anyway - New Blog Post up: https://blackout.games/anatomy-of-a-player/

This definitely gives me a bit more hope for the new game -- players are much more in depth and the distinction between skills and attributes feels a bit more realistic. Definitely feels like there is potential for a variety of strategies to employ. Just hope it doesn't turn into one dominant one.

One quibble I have is that "catching" covers the ability to catch a standard pass and catching the high ball -- which feels like two distinct skills to me. Catching the high ball doesn't deserve it's own skill though so it's the correct choice really. If Height is factored into the equation for the high ball then it's probably not even quibbling about.

I just read it again, height is factored into the high ball, so meh. Also I missed a word in that last sentence, I need some prelunch.

cheers for the congrats guys...I actually had to give up rights to my device to my son at about the 60 minute mark when the Gunslingers had narrowed the game to 30-27....was a nervous wait till I got my phone back and could see the final result! good feeling to reclaim the title...the national cup is one of my favourite trophies to try to win.

Was a great performance from my first 5, Ras Ndemufayo, a hattick of tries in the final and he will finish the cup competition as both top points and top try scorer!...Druss the Legend finishes 3rd top try scorer.

Now to begin the recovery and re-gather myself for a charge at the league one title now...now that will be an interesting challenge!

No. We have different reading comprehensions. study Wink

Being a social science and history teacher, I like to think that reading comprehension is second nature to me. Sure, the rule cited by Bren is phrased a bit too complicated, and it lacks a comma after the parentheses, but I believe I got it right. Smile

Edit: Texts in the documentation, especially when new rules are introduced, are sometimes clear as mud, which makes for discussions like this. BTW, I went ahead and assumed that you read the rules differently from how I did. And we all know what assumptions are the mother of..

In other news, @robelix thrashed me in the NZI 37 - 12. Makes for a much closer struggle for the second position after the Crusaders.

NZI standings (as of now still not updated for R11).

What does social science consist of in Sweden? In NZ there is "social studies" which is subject everyone takes for the first two years of high school. Then it splits into history, geography, and classical studies which are all optional for the last three years.
