Re: Season26 Cup
Can't help but wonder whether the 'fleas reckless forwards will either win or lose the match with their 0.5 star advantage.

Don't see any harm with sharing my tactics...I'm sure to change them around often...

What can I say - I'm intrigued with the idea of 6 reckless forwards. I won't lay into them unless they fail miserably tonight. That sounds fair to me

Wow, intense game! Second half was almost a carbon copy of the first half - for both of us! Man lucky I had my kicker on song tonight, those droppies, what a guy.
Commisserations Rob, we both can concentrate on League now!

ah well done chewy. looks like this crop of Herk boys have taken a leaf out of the early herk legends, but instead of collecting League One runner-up trophies, they are intent on collecting national cup runner-up trophies. sigh.
that first half was a killer, i was suprised that i made a comeback and threatened near the end....it just didn;t seem that i was in it at all. My locks definitely turned up, scoring 3 of the 4 tries...but yes your kicker won the day with 3 legendary drop goals...what poise.
Congrats on your first NZ cup trophy....and yes, time to set the sights back on league one...have to see how the energy is faring...

excluding actual cup prize money, a crowd of just under 49,000 brought in $298,583 to me and Nands each.
new record! Cup match (14325500) played at neutral venue generating a profit of $306,829

yeah the reckless boys didn't do too bad tonight....the team just conceded only 5 penalties (to chewy's 9), but winning only 4 turnovers (to chewys 7).
the problem i have discovered with many reckless players, is not the penalties given away, but rather the issue with facing teams who play aggressive tactics versus me. because i have to lean towards By The Book, or Normal, i am often ripe for the picking from oppositions who play me aggressively....they often gain a huge number of turnovers without incurring too many penalty themselves......i imagine that chewy exploited that tonight also...i would have thought that having reckless forwards versus aggressive opponents would result in winning more penalties from their attempts to turnover the ball...but i dont think that this is necessarily the case....something i have to ponder on a bit more and maybe experiment more with zone tactics and levels of aggression...

Re: Season26 Cup
Shows what I know The game didn't come down to the breakdown at all. Chewy only got 8.5 stars in the ruck so I doubt he played aggressive in many zones. I challenged you to a friendly Rob. I'm going to play aggressive in every zone to see how it pans out against your team.
What chewy did do well was defend. Gave up 14 linebreaks and only conceded 4 tries (and 1 penalty). Then those 3 droppies which proved very handy. Well done chewy.

Thank you mate. Been experimenting this last month with tactics and its proved to be successful but only really against inexperienced teams- or less experienced I should say
Defense was the key. After the early 20+ point comeback by Rob in the second half, where my boys forgot to tackle, we started to stop the lb's again and get some possession. Also I believe leadership and experience played a huge part in that last 15.
