Re: Season 28 Discussion
My club hasn't made a division two final since season 25, mainly due to poor management Got a home semi final tonight though so i think im in with a shot!
Good luck to the Under 20s tonight too, so far so good from the management team there. Stoked to see three of my boys in the starting 15 including Swanell at captain and Downs back to center where i prefer him to play

And I'm Fucked - Arctic Wolves, who were already on Perfect Energy leading into the playoffs, managed to win on WNWIM plus my Starting No.8 is off injured.
Here's to another season in Div III. damn

Hard luck Rob Chewy to win the final on the back of his normal semi. The perks of finishing 1st and avoiding Sparker and 'Fleas in the SF.

Haha true
I do still have a reasonable CSR advantage over him and then it's down to tactics...

Re: Season 28 Discussion
sigh....gave it my best shot but came up just short against Sparker (again)...(yes chewy, i was cringing when they were about to take that 22 drop out...just dreading waiting for the inevitable blue words to follow). Was a bugger i lost my kicker early, his replacement missed about 3 or 4 in a row...
good luck in the final chewy, playing normal intensity ought to give ya the edge in your final.
well done to all the other winners on the onsite

Re: Season 28 Discussion
A fight has broken out between Cheong and Cox! Ooh... Everyone loves a good scrap on the pitch, but kneeing someone in their pride and joy, its just not fair play. The ref steps in to break up the fight, and calls 'time off' for Cheong to recover before resuming play.

Gotta ask. As you now I'm Swedish, but as a history teacher I have a keen interest in things like these.
I see the term ANZAC being used here and there as synonymous with Australia and New Zealand in things unrelated to armed conflict, like in this instance. Is that a common and accepted use of the acronym today, or is it a tad sloppy? Or is the latter just a history teachers view?

Unofficially, it's often used to signify some sort of Australia/New Zealand co-operation. For example, whenever the idea of a currency union with Australia is raised, the proposed currency is often referred to as a "Anzac Dollar"
The government also makes a suggestion that ANZAC should refer to the actual army corp while Anzac refers to other usages. My use above, I realise, was a bit sloppy. There's also law in New Zealand and Australia that bans using the word for any commercial application. See: http://www.mch.govt.nz/nz-identity-heritage/anzac-day/anzac-guidelines
My favourite bit of that is the biscuit exception.
the use of the word ‘Anzac’ in relation to a biscuit provided that the product conforms to the general recipes and shape traditionally known as an ‘Anzac biscuit’. This does not apply to products such as cookies, slices, loaves or muesli bars.

Finals day! Who's hopeful? Who's despondent?
My Scottish affiliate fell at the first hurdle (no epic match with elsteveo's affiliate I'm afraid) but my Kiwi and Dutch teams are both looking good to take out some wins and hopefully promote.
They're both up against strong teams with similar CSR's though so likely won't be easy.
