Re: Season 29 Discussion
I won Poland's Division One final 64-21 in what should have been a close match. Yet it feels really hollow for some reason so I think it is time to move back to NZ.

Do not dare to promote to III.4!!!!
Life is already quite difficult with 4 teams above 230K CSR

Re: Season 29 Discussion
I played the Molia Cup, you played the Premiership.
I played Pizza League V, you played Pizza League I.
If you end up in my league I will need to buy oldies again to win the required games to avoid direct relegation... which certainly would not help my economy. Please, don't be mean.
When I chose to train Gordy Booth instead of making ludicrous money out of him I assumed it was going to be two tough seasons financially speaking... now I am about to end my personal ascetic period, do not put pressure on me

Re: Season 29 Discussion
Won both my final matches - NZ one not really happy with though TBH.
21 point win but I was on higher intensity and seems I was actually losing at half time only to do an ABs-style run home in the 2nd half. Don't really understand why Naki Boys Normalled, maybe he's offline (I haven't bothered to check)
Nonetheless, job done and off to Div II - got a bit of work to do with my team I'm sure...and maybe try out that "scouting" thing you guys talk about

Re: Season 29 Discussion
Bren what was the way to find out what div we go to? Is it top rated replaces bottom of the above league and working down the ratings from there? I remember you once posted it on the old o/s

Re: Season 29 Discussion
Yeah, bottom rated replaces the top rated.
So for the division two demoters
All Kings 65.0046 (League II.1)
M-Falcons 65.0759 (League II.1)
Fellas 66.4836 (League II.4)
Napier Cavaliers 68.4782 (League II.2)
Hopefools 68.5138 (League II.3)
Fire Hunters 68.9986 (League II.2)
Piss Artist 71.3624 (League II.4)
New Lynn Red Sox 71.6692 (League II.3)
So match that list with the promoters from division 3. You should end up in II.1 (looks like I get the Night Runners and Wareika Hill United)

Re: Season 29 Discussion
Any good buys/sells on the TM?
I went in with just under 2mill, couldn't get near a star 400k experienced lad Had to settle for 2 fillers.
Hope to have a quick injection of cash from Collins Road matches and get some lucky buys early next season. Survival of the fittest again.

Re: Season 29 Discussion
After the season started with my team being the lowest ranked CSR team in my league, I bought some really handy oldies who allowed my to have competitive bids for the Pizza and the NZI while I managed to secure 5th place in my league.
At the same time, I continued to upgrade facilities and coaches and at the end of the season I sold the old farts to get a bit of a financial relieve.
Season 30 is looking bright: I expect to suffer in the games prior to the start of the Pizza but then I hope I'll have finished all the investment my club needs and will focus in winning every winnable game
The 40 days of pilgrimage to accommodate Gordy Booth will soon be over!

Chewy were you not interested in that 550k CSR Italian as seen in the BR clubrooms? Sold for $1.7m which sounds like a bargin for a 31yo.

Re: Season 29 Discussion
Still a good price I feel. He is 550k CSR!
What about Dutch NT player Dion Arends for $1.9M? Literally just turned 30yo, not declining, 450k CSR, good skill distribution imo.
Some younger players went for heaps though. His Dutch teammate Arnaud Cox went for $4.8M (nearly 26yo 400k CSR).

That 3am deadline for most was killer, every autobid I put in just got pumped up and left behind.

Hi Guys I will have 150 stars for promotion next season.
Is it still week 2 day 1?
Also whats the current thoughts on the best return of stars spent per player?

Re: Season 29 Discussion
i missed out again this season on the TM dump...yep that 3am deadline really got me...didnt bother with auto-bidding...surprised with some of the really high prices! i remember it used to be quite easy to get the odd 1 or 2 good deal but not anymore, i wonder if that it because there are less quality players from the auto-bots than from previous seasons?
im still one or two players short of a full team...no hooker at the moment (have a flanker covering)....and my halfback is declining and will need replacing soon....as is one of my props...gonna be a tough season 30....

Yes. Round 2, day 1. You can then do it again on Round 2, day 2.
I've always felt that about 30-50 is the sweet spot. Enough stars to get someone decent but diversified enough to offer choices in who to ultimately train.
Related thought, I've got a method through the API that'll allow me to send a quick email to all NZ managers easily. Seems like reminding them of youth scouting would be a good time to use it. Thoughts?

Re: Season 29 Discussion
agreeed, 30 - 50 stars is reasonable...though i do spend heaps more stars if im trying for a lock or prop (i.e. promoting a player 200cm +, 120kgs + )...never know your luck

Re: Season 29 Discussion
I feel like you've got the logic a little backwards really.
Stars have no effect on height or weight or discipline. Only skills. (starting) Skills are less important to props/locks compared to other players since untrainables are so important.
Better to spend 30 stars on a bunch of potential locks/props rather than 150 on one guy and have him turn out 196/105. (of course I get the great hope is to get a 209/130 player with amazing starting skills and making a killing on the TM)
On the other hand, I feel that spending more stars on backs is potentially more productive. The relationship between stars and starting skills isn't great but it's there. You're much less likely to be disappointed with a stars-heavy back than with a stars-heavy forward.
Edit: I should add, that I've often gone for investing more stars into potential props and locks than backs in the past. The way of thinking I've written above feels a little counter-intuitive to me but I feel the logic checks out.

yep, get that. but the way i understand it, if you promote a 200cm + player, you are more likely (though not guaranteed) to get another player who is also 200cm + (hopefully even taller). If so, with more stars invested, the bethe starting skills for that player will be.
Going by transfer market values (not that i would be inclined to sell, just want to avoid having to buy a lock) buying a 17 year old 205 cm player with 50k csr could cost you a mil on the TM, whereas a 50k csr back may cost you half or less than half that price...same with heavy props.....a 130kg 17 year old with 50 k csr skills could fetch a heavy penny....
