Lions Tour
Soon it's going to be 2017 and the Lions will tour NZ.
I start this thread with a very very very very interesting comment by Warren Gatland about kiwis being arrogant. You can find it all here.
What I loved was this sentence:
Warren Gatland: Proud to be so humble.

Re: Lions Tour
So kiwis should be proud to be humble, yet not arrogant? Whatever you say Warren.

Re: Lions Tour
I'm finding Gatland a bit baffling in this interview as well.

He is deliberately being thick?

Re: Lions Tour
How can he say both things at the same time: If anyone can jump in and get an 85% win record, how can these be not the best All Blacks ever?
Is it the same reasoning as the pride to be humble? I am a bit confused by all this doublespeak.

Re: Lions Tour
The only way it makes sense to me is if he's actually talking on two different subjects and the article is mashing them together.
i.e. Steve Hansen isn't that great. Any joker could get 85%, and sure these guys are good but they're no 1963/1987 team (that bit was confusing too)

Re: Lions Tour
Perhaps he means that any NZ coach would have an 85% win record with the current guys, but any NZ coach would have had an even better win record (95%?) with the 1963 team.

Re: Lions Tour
Perhaps in his mind that is his best chance to have a crack at coaching them? That anyone can do it so even he can coach them?
