So, should we open the offsite up?

OK, I make a comment in the New Offsite thread about opening the offsite up to anyone that'll like to sign up -- foreigners and New Zealanders alike -- and making most of the forums public. I asked for a comment and the few that commented supported the idea but I wanted to try to get the opinions of as many as possible. It's your offsite, so everyone should be involved in something like this.

I believe opening up the offsite would bring a number of benefits.

1) New users can see immediately that there is actually some activity on the offsite before signing up.
2) Makes it easier for new users to sign up if they don't have to bother with the whole "BRmail someone to verify your account".
3) Makes admin a bit easier too.
4) More people (hopefully)

My plan involved making the General Discussion forums and NZI forums open. NT and U20 forums will remain private and only available to verified New Zealanders.

So, this is the time to give your opinion. If you have any misgivings, any different ideas on how to implement, etc... then please leave a comment.

I'm supportive of this idea, the old offsite was getting a bit quiet anyway...

Perhaps foreign managers should be on a tighter leash?, that is to say, if you are an asshole you'll get shown the door.

yeah i have always been okay with select foreign membership....though ensuring kiwi ownership and a kiwi flavour remains.

I was always against opening it up, but perhaps we need to in order to keep the offsite more active. I agree with what robelix said really

Considering the results of this poll I've decided to open it up. Anyone can now see the General/NZI forums. Anyone can also sign up. To get access to the NT/U20 forums they'll be need to be authorised by either me or the relevant manager.
