Wonder if Gair or Vaikona will ever be dethroned...?

Seems unlikely. They've got two big advantages over anyone else.

1) They played in an era that was dominated by the New Zealand NT season.
2) They didn't have to compete with older, better players for most of the career.

Johnny Storm is our best trained fly half in history right? But, he's played more games at Halfback. 8 of his seasons he's shared with Simon Seales -- most of them with Seales as the preferred player. Even Vaikona and Fish overlapped with the start of Storm's career.

Dannon Fish MIGHT have been better trained? Not sure.

Don't think BR has ever actually kept records of the CSR peak of any players...

But you're right - modern players don't get regular game time until later in their careers (as they should). Meanwhile the likes of Gair and Vaikona pretty well had strangleholds for a long time.
