Wow what defense sparky, I don't see how I didn't win that by 20 points. Look at those stats!

Re: NZI Discussion
Yep defense is my speciality - I should have got flogged by 20 points minimum. Nice turnaround from 2 days ago.
Panth - Brent won the rematch at his place so he finished 3rd. I think if overseas teams have to play away in pool play then that should continue for the playoffs portion also. On the matter of anytime times - whatever is easiest - I suppose you want to make all games kick off at the same time - so you want a time to suit everyone?

Re: NZI Discussion
OK I'll put Brent into 3rd.
Happy to force the foreign=away rule permanently. Question - what about if BOTH teams are foreign?
Yes we want the anytime matches to all be at the same time. As I said - Bren originally advised 2:35pm as that's what he used to do; while I started at 7:35 and slowly worked the standard back after continuous conflicts kept stopping the fixture creation.

Re: NZI Discussion
If both teams are foreign then use what you normally use to decide the home team. For k/o times I would try 5:35, but if that fails 2:35 is fine.

Re: NZI Discussion
Got the final standings done but need to reformat them to fit here or get the display working on the site - hope it won't take too long. Trophies will also be distributed in due course.
Thanks to everyone for sticking with me on a tough season, I'm sure it'll be smoother next season as I work out the kinks.
Feedback is very welcome on any ways to improve things.

Could you remind me how QF/SF match ups are decided, and who gets HGA?

Re: NZI Discussion
QF are done much like the RWC with 1st in one pool playing 2nd in another pool, etc.
SF and GF are tiered and randomised.

Hi!
I just realised my team was the one with the best difference between pre-comp seed and final position. Well done, me!
Thanks Panterhus for doing this!

Thoughts on changing Bonus Point rules for the NZI to those used by Super Rugby?

I'd +1 it. I was against it at first (IRL) but I've flip flopped on the issue.

Re: NZI Discussion
Mmm - shouldn't be an issue, just adjust the bonus point parts of the script and then re-run the standing calculations.
Just to clarify - change is that now, the winning scores a bonus point if they score 3 tries MORE than the opposition.
You CANNOT score a bonus point if you lose, or draw, the game.
Correct?

Re: NZI Discussion
It's an unlikely situation but I do think it's possible for a losing or drawing team to pick up a bonus point.
Quote from the official web site.

It doesn't mention anything about the team picking up the try bonus point needing to actually win the game to get it.
Quote from the official web site.
The four try try bonus point to be replaced by a bonus point that is awarded for finishing three or more tries ahead of your opponent (bonus point for losing by 7 or fewer points remains unchanged).

Re: NZI Discussion
Ah OK - so a team can score 3 tries and lose to the team who kicked penalties all day, but still get the bonus point

Re: NZI Discussion
3 tries more than your opposition
2 for a draw
1 for losing within 7 and one for scoring 3 or more tries than your opposition in a losing effort.(not 100% sure on bolded)
I didn't know about this - "In addition Penalty options after time has expired to now include playing a lineout."

Re: NZI Discussion
can they get two bonus points? Must be if finish within 7. What about a draw, if one team scores three more tries than the other but still draw? Is that 3 points?Pantherus wrote:Ah OK - so a team can score 3 tries and lose to the team who kicked penalties all day, but still get the bonus point

Re: NZI Discussion
The French do it slightly differently. You need to win to get the try bonus point.
Under that system it's impossible to get two bonus points (or to get any bonus points from a draw). I'm still pretty sure that Super Rugby don't require a win to get the bonus point though this hasn't happened yet.
I've seen it happen at least once this season. I like it, offers a better platform for an attack than taking the tap. It also means that giving away a penalty at the end of the game is a bigger deal in a close game -- especially if the losing team is on the wrong side of the field.

Re: NZI Discussion
For teams that have the BP or BP is out of reach, if they have a penalty after FT they have to take the tap and then kick it out to end the game. I've seen that a few times this year.
