Season 30 General Discussion

New season; new thread.

The Catfish Crusaders have returned to our shores in III.13, they left for Poland in Season 23 where they won the cup 3 times and division one 5 times. I haven't spotted any other new visitors to our shores. Did we lose anyone?

Back to me, II.2 looks interesting. Linkin Hawk boasts the best squad (and possibly the biggest with 35 players -- he's paying $220k a week more in salary than I am!) but he's not particularly active these days and a lot of those players are in decline.

WuhC has dropped down from division one and looks pretty solid. The Night Runners have come up from division three and have the second highest average XV CSR in the league (behind Linkin Hawk 15).

gdbfc99's FROGs are in the mix as well. Plus another 3 other teams who can prove a handful.

NM moved back to NZ from Hong Kong.

I will not be NZ's journo in season 30.

I'm just happy to be placed in Div 3 rather than 4. I am back in the same III.13 as I was from S12-16 and The Gropers are still here. Also selling off a few of my best players for cash.

Some questions for the Cup starting in 18 hours:

1.- Who will be eliminated in round 1?
2.- What player will score more tries?
3.- Who will score more points against a bot?
4.- Who will have more points scored against?
5.- Who will play in Normal or even LTNT?
6.- Can anyone match the 0 metres gained that Chewy showed here last week?
7.- Who will field the least CSR and yet win the game?

I will play normal. More experience for my players, and the four extra energy points will almost be recovered come Saturday.

Is there a way to automatically get top Cup team scores?
With a trusty "Ctrl+18" search, and I don't think there are any 190/200 scores...

I am perhaps not in the best mood after the loss of the All Blacks, a disappointing end to a promising World Cup, the Trumpgate and, today I learned, a close relative's health issue.

I will stand down as u20 assistant, as NT assistant (@Activist, I told you several times I would keep on being your assistant as long as you were the All Blacks coach, but I can' t find the energy now, apologies) and journo.

There is still another reason. Tactical awareness. I have identified a gap in the tactical aspect of my game and I need to learn. I am going to use my time to try to analyze, understand, test, ask and improve myself as a tactician. I expect to spend no less than one full season away from CCs, journalism, representative rugby. I need time but I will continue training players and I will not stop posting; I intend to overtake Bren in the top crappy posters list...

I won't be out, just in "meditation" mode.

What's the story with the NT? Any talk behind closed doors? Activist what's your position on this brah?

Thanks @Bren. The good part is that this month we should know, so at least it won't be an endless wait.

@Chewy Regarding the NT, I let Activist talk, we have a very similar point of view regarding what happened. For me it is taking a toll, though.

I don't need to know anything, It's Thursday and no one has put their hand up.

Sorry brothers been busy af - the plan was always to stay on for one last term, but I've decided not to seek re election.

Thanks to whoever voted for me but I just don't think I'll have the time or energy for holding such a prestigious position for another two seasons - pretty gutted as the team is hitting peak and over the last two seasons the team has come a long way.

I've put in a lot of work organising the next generation and bringing through the talent to take over our oldies. There is still a little work to do but the foundation has been laid.

Cheers to everyone for voting for me over the last two campaigns it's been fun and challenging, I feel that I've put in some pretty consistent performances and have been there or there abouts when it comes to titles and world cups with a pretty strong but young team.

On my end I think it's been a successful 4 seasons building on what chewy laid and I believe that the team has been left in a better position than when I got it so I am happy to pass the baton on and give back to the community what was given to me

Good luck to the next manager, I believe the team is currently in a position not only to win the world cup, but also go back to back.

All I ask for is that whoever steps in continues to work with, inform and engage with the community and keep the community alive, it's been great to see NZ come back to life - wasn't long ago that it looked all doom and gloom and I'd hate for that to happen again.
