Any NZ player that's bid on by a PI team he WILL buy, got a direct quote.

Re: Season 29 Discussion
It has been stated that gimping has made zero contribution to PI. This is incorrect because gimping trained both Matahi Setiti and Tani Talei for the PI U20s and played for a combined 63 games. They were purchased on the TM by gimping's PI affiliate Chatham Island Battlers when they were only around 35k CSR so it is clear that it was gimping who trained them for the PI U20s.
Tinie clearly doesn't like when clubs in PI train for other nations such as NZ. This is understandable. However it turns out that Tinie is a hypocrite. With his Ivory Coast affiliate he has trained Temana Nacewa for the PI U20s, and he has just bought and started to train a future PI U20 player Tita Rauhihi, and just bought Tunui Hoeft and instantly made him a PI U20 player. The same thing happens with his Japanese affiliate Kinki Dragons. Teina Teleni was a former PI U20 player, and Mika Tiki is a current PI U20 player. If you don't want PI clubs to train NZ players, then why are you using your Ivory Coast and Japan clubs to train Pacific Island players?
So there you have it. Tinie is a liar and a hypocrite. A great mix for a U20 and NT manager. Tinie should be ashamed of himself.

The hypocrisy is what annoys me most. I am now just refusing to train for the PI if tinie is a coach.

Well fuck, I obviously had some kind of brain explosion and hit the LTNT button rather than WNWIM for this cup game.

Re: Season 29 Discussion
I'll be honest, when I kick-started the Japan project the most annoying thing for me were the affiliates that were just training for other nations. It took me a couple of seasons to cool down about it and have a sense of "live and let live". I adopted a policy with my affiliates that I had to train one native player for the home nation to give me a right to train others for Japan. Japan is where my loyalty lies, I make no bones about it. I train for others because it's a form of integration, maybe inside me I feel it gives me some moral high-ground, which is a bit silly and pretentious, but I also get a kick out of the interaction and can't wait to see them play.
I still don't think you should set up shop, take community money etc. and give nothing back, but whatever one's stance is, there's always a counter-argument and as I've previously stated I don't believe in absolute morality I'd be a hypocrite to demand action from players. All we do now is set up a system that gets people believing in the community/training, and set up the comps to favour training teams that help us, carrot instead of stick (turning back to them) sort of stuff. Quite a few managers now that hadn't before are now training for us. People are now even offering to train for us before being asked with teams outside Japan, which is the coolest thing ever in BR.
Unfortunately, the PI are not now a NZ-friendly zone.
However, there is a Pacific (in each and every sense) nation which loves and adores our NZ contingent, and does everything possible to promote peace and harmony and if any of you, at any time, want to be part of an underdog's journey into the unknown, one nation's quest to bring spirit and love to the top of the guarded mountain, then we would be honoured .... to call you .... our friend. (string music leading to crescendo and emotional back-drop imagery).

Re: Season 29 Discussion
So you train players in other countries to give yourself the moral high-ground, and yet you keep banging on about not believing in morality and ethics in BR. Is that a whiff of a dichotomy I smell?

Ehhhhhh, are you sure you read the sentence fully and took in the tone I meant it to have? Maybe you did and this is just a playful haha, I got that .... but the way you said "banging on" leads me to believe it ain't quite so, but I could be wrong, or you could be, or we both could be, or both be right; internet doublespeak, two conversations for the price of one.

Hard to say. 10 is particularly good. But really the span of ~8 -`12 or so were really good.

Top Scorers in the Cup has been updated. Thanks panties!
Hugo Fortes of the Direwolf Straits is still number one! Unfortunately, he'll likely be knocked off next week when we take on Sparker.

Re: Season 29 Discussion
Updated my Cup Prediction Spreadsheet.
Edit: Not too much change at the top as the top tier teams just change their probabilities around by a few %. The random draw was harsh to some teams.
Mud Dogs were given a 93.7% chance to win Round 4 last week but that's dropped to 11.09%.
Belfast Cobras were given a 80.38% chance to win Round 4 last week but that's dropped to 13.67%
Direwolf Straits (sigh) were given a 88.53% chance last week but that's dropped to 0.13% (or around about the chance to win $50 from a $3 instant kiwi ticket)

Agreed. Also too harsh on Belfast Cobras. And Jolly Roger "only" have a 66% chance to win the Cup final? And Linkin Hawk are way down the list? I know it is only a bit of fun but there are many strange predictions.simon71 wrote:Bren wrote:Updated my Cup Prediction Spreadsheet.

Re: Season 29 Discussion
Sparker's a hard one to read, but it seems he prefers to sacrifice the cup for the league. He LTNT'd Melville in the league just days before their league meeting and then obviously threw the cup. Strange, as he's never won the cup. Seems he doesn't care about it too much.

Fair criticism. I might reevaluate those formulas at some point.

The stars are weird. Mind you, I haven't ever paid any attention to them so maybe they're not and it's just me.
Still, forced a normal out of me. Maybe it'll be good enough, maybe it won't.
