Will the Wettaskiwin Wolves make it out of division III.8 on their 13th attempt? Smart money is on no.

Hmm - so Johnny Storm has done his dash and (presumably) has just about finished up in the ABs.

Combined with the new universal minimum salaries and I'm contemplating returning to the game to have a go - with AB Deacon Hehea leading the pack along with (hopefully) imminent U20 Joseph Bloomer.

Storm can stick around and run the cutter for a bit - how long do top players last once they start dropping?

All that being said - I've basically been out of the game so long that I've completely lost touch with how it's working. I've apparently promoted to Div III (lol) and am sitting on $34m so I could buy up a decent squad.

With Storm out of training I've got 10 L5 sessions to burn which I'm happy to put onto an U20 or Nat player/trainee, or I could spread them over a few ex U20s or whatever. Is that still how it works? A bit of guidance would be much appreciated!!

LOL - I wouldn't worry about little ol' me. I'm so out of date tactically I'll still lose more than I should

Yeah Linkin Hawk will add an interesting element to my division. I guess a lot of teams that have been farming money will be buying up players after the rule changes. Hopefully make things more competitive.

You could set yourself a ~$2M autobid limit and buy in ~8 <30yo players which you like the look of and that would get you promoted to Div 2, and should take you to near the top of Div 2. A mixture of cheap ~100k CSR players and old ~250k CSR players to fill in the rest of the starting XV and ~4 decent bench players. Then next season spend the rest of your money filling/upgrading the final few positions you need to promote to Div 1, and to stay in Div 1.

Storm will be good for at least another 2 seasons. I would advise using your sessions on 3 players.

Here's a player you could buy and build your new squad around. He could probably use those 10 sessions of yours for a few more seasons (hopefully) too.

My suggestion, pick up one u20 and train those other two long term( well hehea) already is. We always have enough u20 trainers.

lol - I could happily get on with how I would have advised newbies 10+ seasons ago - but I've no idea about what I've missed

I'm perfectly happy to use those 10 sessions on an U20/NT player. Not sure about Whakapapa though - already have Hehea and Bloomer in my second-row although I could always play one of them at 6...sharing around the DEF training sessions would be hard though.

I think I'd be better off with a back prospect.

as time goes on, people lose interest and drop out of the game. you dont want to wait for 3 or more seasons then buy up, only to find yourself with no one (or very few people) to compete with....

...im probably only got 2-3 more competitive seasons left in me...im gathering more and more players around that 30+ year mark with no large bank balance to replace them with....

When was I/am I meant to contribute stars for the next batch of u20s. I have 250 saved up so i think I may have fucked up lol

there is another dark horse lurking away in the 3rd Division of NZ.....Linkin Hawk (maanger slystallone) have made some big buys lately and i saw that they had some other massive bids on other players (though missed out as wasn't online when auctions ended?)

...yikes...just checked his team again...Average XV CSR up to 296k....and im sure hes got more money for more massive buys....

Anyway Linkin Hawk will be of no concern to any reasonably good manager because he doesn't seem to understand BR too well. He denied Dutch NT release to a 28yo 300k player, and considering he is a DN Aussie he won't be capped by them either.
