Re: Season 28 Discussion
Pleased with the 52-0 victory over Adian's Sport Academy last night. This marks my first time in the NZ Sweet Sixteen. Got Rage Against The Latrine for the next round so we'll bow out, but bow out happy.
My Dutch team got mutilated by the number one Dutch team 104-3.
Got 14/16 from my cup predictions above. Though I guess that's really a score of 3/5 if you only consider the marginal ones.

Just had a brief chat to him - he's basically over the game and decided he's had enough

Re: Season 28 Discussion
Looking in his trophy cabinet he is a 1x Cup winner and 2x Runner up, and 3x 2nd place and 2x 3rd place in Division One. But dare I say he underachieved by never winning Div 1? His squad looks pretty healthy too and would be coming into its prime in a few seasons.

We're halfway through the round-robin, how's everyone's leagues shaping up?
I'm delighted. All three teams top of the table and undefeated.

Re: Season 28 Discussion
Lost in the first round before getting my team sorted - sitting 2nd now and have beaten both the other top teams so feeling pretty happy for playoffs berth. Promotion could be an issue though, and that's only if I can manage the win...

Re: Season 28 Discussion
Cup tonight. Some quick predictions.
Rage Against the Latrine v Barbecued Duck. Easy win for Rage. My boys will be bending over and taking it.
Okaiawa v Elbanditos Good energy advantage + home advantage for Okaiawa should see them home.
Melville RFC v Sparker C'mon chewy. Don't let me down here, I'm backing you.
Los Lobo v Linkin Hawk 15 Should probably back Linkin Hawk 15 here with their ability to field 7 internationals but I think Los Lobo will come up with the win here.
WuhC v St Oak Stabbers Should be an easy win for WuhC.
Gunslingers v King's XV Tough battle. I think the Gunslingers have the edge though.
Fellas v FRuity Oenological Gastronomes Should see the FROGs emerge her.
Innocent Dingo's v Millennium Falcons Good energy advantage for the Falcons should counter the home advantage/possible LTNT from the Dingo's.

You would not expect that after Richard Hugh McCaw and Daniel Carter departed, everything would remain the same, would you?

Actually the Crusaders look better without McCaw and Carter tbh.

LTNT is locked and loaded anyway. I know you're not one for mindgames but I don't take risks at later stages. But dammit, even if I win I won't get to No.1. All I want is that spot for one week and I can ride away into the sunset and retire team 12209 into a farm team. I need to get away from this game ASAP for a while but I can't do it without the No.1 slot in my history for however short it may be. Looks like I'll have to play into S29 .

Re: Season 28 Discussion
There only one team I would not have a go against and that's yours. I know when I'm beat.
Anyway you can't get to div one and become a farm team, think of the managers that are working hard to get there and stay there. You may as well throw the towel in now if that is your intentions

5/8 -- I won't be giving up my day job to become a professional Blackout Rugby predictor of matches and hot dog merchant on the side. Sigh.

Itchy itchy scratchy scratchy
1) Not promote to be fair to all working promotees
2) Redistribute the ranking points among those that I took them from
There's no right and no wrong, just perception.
Still don't know what I'm doing though. That No.2 in my history just reminds me of poo.
A lot of matches to win beforehand though, starting with those FROGs. Just in time for the botsales too.

not too fussed razor, just don't like your approach to next season if you promote. Would rather someone In there to provide competition every week.
Each to their own I guess.

Up until Sunday everyone was keeping their powder very very dry. And Excelsior were on default normal. It's hardly cut-throat island. I get what you're saying though and in essence I agree with it but there are arguments for and against and my sole objective in BR coincides with a time when I'm overdosed with other stuff and in the future I might not ever get a shot at trying to get No.1 (I know full well that there are many obstacles in my way and it's a tough ask). But you've already said you're not too fussed so I don't know why I'm yapping on about it like a beta apologist.
We'll see what happens. Best scenario, I win and batman loses to someone this season before the playoff final and then it's all over. I'd be staying regardless and then can train an AB rep like I'm doing for the Saffas and let the team sleep for a while. Worst case, I lose to you and the FROGs and have to be fully competitive next season and hope you all keep up those WNWIMs.

Re: Season 28 Discussion
You'll be surprised how cut throat it is once you get up there.
Sorry if I sound a bit heartbroken, Matt leaving really has thrown the division open, but we lost a great manager out of it.
Razor like you know you are free to run your club how you like and I enjoyed reading your explanation.
Good luck on your mission.

Re: Season 28 Discussion
Matt (Scuuba) was my original Mentor and honestly, if it weren't for him I don't think I would have grown at all within the game and would probably have just given it up.
We'd pretty much fallen out of touch in the last couple of years but I emailed him about going bot which pulled the conversations up again

Re: Season 28 Discussion
sure was a shame to lose Matt and Excelsior....
c'mon up razor, you dont need to be at your best/worst to partake in the league...keep yourself too strong and everyone will just avoid taking you on and we are left fighting it out for second....keep yourself weak and it becomes a slight mockery (as chewy suggested)...may i suggest a middle ground of letting a few players go but keeping a competitive squad worthy of playing in the worlds toughest league one?
