5 teams have lost all 5 games too. You don't want to be part of this 7%.

Tough battle in the my game against Western. I'm up 9-6, nearly at halftime.

Dagnabbit, Western win 19-16. Nearly had the draw but conceded a penalty right in front of the poles. Undefeated streak comes to an end. Down to just 4 teams undefeated now.

Re: Season 29 NZI Banter
Another game, another close loss. Lost 29-26 Okaiawa. I score in the 76th minute to take the lead, but he scores in the 78th minute to retake the lead. Then I miss a droppie in injury time that would have got a draw.
5 out of 6 of my NZI games have had margins of 3 points of less.

Re: Season 29 NZI Banter
Was playing some sublime rugby in the NZI last night, 6 7+ phases, couple of them were 20+ phases, 14 line breaks, 700ish metres made - whats the record for most 7+ phases? Not talking png forward tactics either...

In the Gair Shield, the Auckland Katipos pull away on a five point lead inspite of having the tiers lowest average CSR. Well done!

Most modest too.
Is your success due to you being a tactical genius, your opponents being morons, or your team having skills in the correct places for each position?

I would say the third option being by far the greatest reason of my success. Goldfinger's increasing form has helped too.
And that lack of modesty is simply my attempt of banter, I thought that's what this thread was about.

It was the way you addressed yourself in 3rd person, and then said well done to yourself. Don't think you will find many people to have banter with in the Gair tier. With promotion to the Cottier tier you will find a number of OSers to have mad bantz with.

Problem is I'll probably have much less to bragg about in the Cottier Shield. Might as well do it now.

Mmmm the cottier shield banter is minimal.... possibly because pathetic is giving more hidings than an old school head master.
Apart from that it's pretty close! And purely based on csr we should be able to beat him

Re: Season 29 NZI Banter
In the Molia Cup I don't really dare to banter too much. 2 out of 6 is not that great even if I am the lowest CSR team in the group...

Re: Season 29 NZI Banter
I'm carving up in the championship, pretty sure I've got the measure of Los Lobo tonight too. Ol' twinkle toes Newman couldn't pour water out of a boot if the instructions were written on the heel...
Interesting to see the piss artists doing a warriors impersonation too, they've beaten the top two sides but still manage to sit near the bottom of the table

First half of the NZI is in the books!

Most leagues are looking like they'll go down to the wire to determine the winner. Only one team is left undefeated (Kibworth RFC).

Re: Season 29 NZI Banter
Hell yea I agree! Great to see the competition back to its former glory. I was skeptical athe first about the new format but it has meant most of the games are close and could go either way ☺

Re: Season 29 NZI Banter
And just to throw in some math. If we assume that a team has a 50% probability of winning each match (i.e. each league is perfectly balanced) then the probability that a team is undefeated after 7 matches is 0.8% (or the same probability as getting heads 7 times in a row in a coin flip) or 0.5625 teams if you multiply that by 72.
So we're pretty close to the ideal which is definitely pleasing.

Re: Season 29 NZI Banter
Bren, your post has made me think we could gather some stats.
In order to have:
Probability_of_winning_a_match(as a function of CSR difference).
Let's say: Prob(0) = 50.0%
Prob (+1000) = 50.5%
Prob (+10000) = 55.0%
If we have thousands and thousands of matches we could get a good statistical sample

Just imagine what the new leagues will look like when the narrow pyramid is implemented.
