well done sparky...you seem to be quite my bogey team....how did you manage 80% territory in the first half!?
of course i blame the loss on no pre-game banter, psychological warfare was left wanting...cant blame it on turnover/penalties, these were pretty well contained..
Haha, don't know mate. When it comes to thrash talk, I'm a too.

Re: Season 29 NZI Banter
I have a very interesting NZI game in a few hour. It's a direct prequel of my next Cup game against the Meadowbank Tigers. The Tigers have a slightly better team than I have and are aptly managed by mattjair. We have clashed before, both in friendlies and in the NZI, and our games are usually quite tight. I have only won 1 out of 7, though.
Here's me hoping that will change to 3 out of 9 in a weeks time..

Re: Season 29 NZI Banter
The Economists lost their unbeaten record to the Westport Warriors earlier today. Surprised it lasted this long considering the team is 100% original players.
The main event though looks good, stars are very close between me and the Mighty O's. Would love a win away from home!

Got the job done at Nadine Jansen Money Shot Arena
Last minute drop goal to beat Linkin Hawk 20-18, just after it looked like I would lose to a late try, then a 79th minute penalty from the resulting restart. Only a 75k CSR difference between our teams' average 1st XV so no big deal

Held on! Had to survive a penalty goal and drop goal attempt by the opposition but both went wide. Phew.... Still undefeated in the Vaikona Cup!

Nice, keeps you in the hunt for the he Premiership title. Especially with Melville dropping a game. Though Okaiawa is looking pretty good, beating Herk at the Tough Terrier Battleground today.

I did win that Cup prequel of mine, 53-36. Good score, less so considering we drew 5-5 in tries and that I lost the second half.
I wonder what will happen comes Wednesday, with energy and intensity in the mix..?
It will be exciting..

Tigers gave away 12 penalties and you kicked half of them.
I do notice that Goldfinger yet again gave away more penalties than turnovers won. Any regret on not selling him yet?

Hubert and I have a story of sorts. He is my best graduate to date with a TSP of 118 and a CSR of 123K. I still haven't reached that CSR with anyone else. He was also good enough for gimping and Bren both to include him in the U20, my very first, and he played with the 1st XV most of the time.
His first month was great, with good to really good "total rugby" performances in league and internationals. Then his form dropped below the average line and has stayed there for about a season.Having looked at his stats today I have to take your question to heart, though. His performances has been less than OK this season, in all competitions. But yesterday his form finally started to increase, today form alone gave his CSR a boost of 304. I'm hoping he'll end up with at least reputable, which might turn his performances around. His skills are getting there too, and with good form I hope it will start being noticed in the lineouts more. I'm hoping we can look back at the end of the season, and saying he was an important player for the Katipos.
I also see his penalties as a lesser issue. The way I see it, when he commits many, others commit less. Even if that might not always be true, I think there something to it.
With all that being said, will i keep my next reckless/rebellious forward? Nah, probably not. But with Hubert I doubt I could have done differently.

Damn that Cobras lineout is deadly, would give the Catfish lineout a run for it's money.

Re: Season 29 NZI Banter
Should be a tough night for my two teams.
For the Direwolf Straits, stars looks good against Aidan's Sport Academy. Small advantages or ties in everything. Thank you home advantage! Hoping to keep the unbeaten streak alive.
The Economists are in for a tough battle against the Hooligans. Should be interesting, both teams are full of 100% Originals. The Hooligans were started about a month after the Economists so hopefully those extra weeks of training counters their home advantage. Hoping to get the ECC campaign back on track after losing last week.

Re: Season 29 NZI Banter
I had a close 20-17 loss to chewy. Nearly managed to beat him, but he scored 2 late tries with the help of the TMO. Check out the stats though - chewy was way better in everything apart from penalties.
4 out of 5 of my NZI games have had margins of 3 points of less

Re: Season 29 NZI Banter
i think we should end the NZI comp right now and declare Icemen the champions....
....has nothing to do the fact that for some reason i cant win/bribe/extort/fluke a victory these days and am stuck at the bottom of the table...pretty embarrassing seeing as i started off having the highest CSR ranked team...

You got off to a great start, your defense on the line was pretty devastating at times. I only took the lead at the 70th min or thereabouts, around the time my two back subs came on.
Great game, one upset this week was enough

Only 5 out of 72 teams are undefeated after 5 rounds. Looks like your sorting algorithm did a fine job of producing a close and competitive comp. Shot Bren (and congrats on being one of the 7%).
