Living on the edge is difficult as is tempting. It happened to Melville. You stay for a second longer in the read area and all of a sudden you just can't come back to the blue area.
I am sure the powerful player factory in Whangarei already has provided quality youngsters to replace the oldies, though.

@robelix,
Have a real go at U20 players next season. Beckett and Ingram are both looking like givens in the next squad, if you can commit to playing them in every game. Shockingly enough, they have good discipline too.
It's great fun, and it a serious way of building a solid long term foundation for your club.

You still have the highest average CSR 1st XV and a decent bench too.
Start Dooley and move Seedhouse into the backs. Need to trust in the youth.

Re: Season 36 General Discussion
yeah I have got my eye on training up Ingram. Not sure about Beckett. He is definitely a good prospect, but im not sure if I have the resources to train them both up. Im wanting to keep training up Druss and Garfield, but maybe I need to think about letting Garfield go onto the market...but damn, he looks like a good long term project (in spite of his recklessness).
Moving Seedhouse to the backline could also be a solid idea. I ought to seriously think about letting Berthon go whilst he would still pull in decent coin. Though it would be Garfield who would end up get the starting berth, Dooley is only in the team long enough for a few more pops, then Im gonna hope for some nice cash for him off the transfer market...which will hopefully help me replace some of those other rapidly declining players.
The problem with losing Berthon this early, is that it will seriously dent any hopes of cup and league success (and WCC). Not sure if I want to do that....but if I wait till after the cup, he will lose quite a bit of value...and also, players don't sell for as much around that time of season too.
decisions decisions.

Only round four and I'm already in damage control trying to get my disaster of a season back on track... Stars look promising for today's game but I'm aware donkeysaint is pretty good tactically so could be an interesting game

TMO to decide the winner of the match in the 80th minute!!
PS:And yet again!!
PPS: ouch! Tough luck, @simon71 , well played but the Katipos' stamina killed you there.

Losing Luke Menzies to an early injury can't have helped, just not my season I guess

Re: Season 36 General Discussion
Interesting season for Patea so far...
Because of the predictably shorter Cup runs for everyone I trimmed the squad down to 24 players. Of course, now we are still alive in the Cup and well down energy-wise.
Luckily we well be +2 players after some injuries are healed and after week 5's YA pull.

Druss discipline = 8 reckless (collected border)
Garfield discipline = 5 reckless (rebellious border)
Dooley is a great option to sell because he is essentially reckless but people on the TM won't see this at first glace, and they'll ignore his horrible exp. Garfield is also a great option to sell - looks like an acceptable (to some managers anyway) reckless but is essentially rebellious. Ditto on his exp with Dooley. Selling both will net you great cash. Might as well stick with Druss at this point.
How much value will Berthon lose if you hold on to him for a couple more months? At 32yo I would have said not much. The so-called best player in the world with 700k only sold for $3.4M and he is 34yo. Selling Dooley and Garfield is where the serious TM money would be.

That is why you don't spend 150 stars on each player. Also your "free" 10 star player was so close to being awesome with 204cm and 126 kg. If only those 2 players were controlled instead of reckless.

Re: Season 36 General Discussion
I would say that is wiser to use large amounts of stars, if you feel you have/want to, on backs. They are not dependent on untrainables, and are more likely to make good on the investment, while forwards are made broken by them.
The exceptions are would-be hookers, they have a very good chance of making excellent centres if "failed".
At least Antony Barrat seem to be high-end reckless, and might still be of use for the U20's.

yeah, im pretty sure your right Sparkman. The problem with Garfield, is that I got emotionally attached to him....I shouldn't have renamed him I will probably wait till he is around or over 200k csr….he will have some great skills sets then. it is around that time I will need to make a call on whether to promote and trian Beckett for the u20s. Re: Druss. Im hoping that he can force his way into the nats. if not, then I may have to rethink how much training I keep throwing at him.
this is how Dooley is looking at the moment. Will wait for pops on Jumping and Strength before listing him. Not sure how far away that will be, but they are well advanced on them, so I hope I don't have to wait too long...
18. Ron "Juggernaut" Dooley

my goal was to make him a real rounded player....probably as an attacking loose forward who can back up at lock.

Well you have regressed into a BR n00b so mistakes are to be expected. Speaking of which, are the prospects in your default lineup?Pantherus wrote:Egg on my face then, eh?

Re: Season 36 General Discussion
I'm really enjoying the league I've been put into through the narrowing of the pyramid; it's definitely achieved the objective of creating more even and competitive leagues in my opinion!
After 5 rounds, no one is undefeated or winless and the games in general just seem to be a lot closer. This is the first time in a while where I've been genuinely interested in what happens in my league rather than simply seeing how my reps perform.
Games involving my team must be absolutely dour to watch though...: fewest points conceded but also the 3rd lowest points scored despite sitting in 3rd

Re: Season 36 General Discussion
I think I've found this member number cap/soft cap/slow down; it's ~5250
This week I lost 1 member with 70 contentment.
Last week 3 members joined with 68 contentment.
Week 4 = 0 members joined with 56 contentment.
Week 3 = 2 members joined with 58 contentment.
Week 2 = 3 members joined with 50 contentment.
Week 1 = 8 members joined with 51 contentment. (clear outlier)
So let's say ~5300 is the reasonable soft cap limit of member numbers.

Two comments.
First, who trains kicking in a lock? What a waste of training slots
Second, who else but Van Coke would buy him? His tallest player is Japan's NT lock and kicker at 209cm. I can picture him dreaming of some day claiming to have the player with the highest CSR in the game
And I am sure there will be managers that will even praise him.
